senoritafish: (ray troll: a 1000 words)
So, a few months ago I got an email reminding me I'd signed up at Tegaki, a Japanese blogging site where you draw all of your entries. Can't remember when I actually signed up there; it was an intriguing idea at the time, but I'd never actually used it. Anyway, a reminder was sent, and I had been thinking I been wishing for an oekaki board, as all the ones I used to be a member of seemed to have either disappeared or had such super advanced members I wasn't comfortable trying to post in them. Anyway, I gave it a try at the time; I need to go back there again and try to use it regularly. I'd posted these at Tumblr but never got around to posting them here. Fanarts done with the touchpad as I'd misplaced my tablet.

Happy New Year 2013 by *senoritafish on deviantART

I'm sorry, I am late with everything for this year. Seems like I spend most of my time on my Nook, which will not let me copy/pasta anything, and it's kind of pain to type longer entries on. But in any case I think I'm allowed to say Happy New Year all of January, right?

I did the shark a while ago - you've probably seen it before, but finally kicked the kid's off the family laptop long enough to make the background New Year's Day. Gimp comes with kinda crappy fonts for text.

I wish everyone a far better and happier 2013 than 2012 was (and a good riddance to it). It's been rough for a lot of us, and I have to believe it can only get better.

Big Mack... by *senoritafish on deviantART>

Doodled (on the back of an ad for another con) at the Anime Manga & Music (AM2) con in Anaheim this past weekend, while waiting for the kids to finish a contest in the Brony lounge. I started with his nose and then the rest of him didn't fit on the paper. Because he's big.

But I had to edit out some lines in his horse collar because my husband pointed out it looked like something untoward, and then I couldn't unsee it. :p

I guess one of the reasons I kinda like this toon and am allowing the kids to drag me along into it is that there are male ponies . I don't recall them existing before. Although Big Mack seems hardly a pony - he looks like a draft horse.

Gareth wore his Rainbow Dash hoodie I made him for Halloween and had a bunch of people want to take his picture in it.  Now he can't wait to wear it to Anime Expo, if we go. ;p

Hope they'll continue doing AM2 - this was its second year.  But it's free, except for concerts, priority seats, and tables in the artists alley.  Kind of small compared to AX, but kind of nice because of that.

So the [livejournal.com profile] capslokdethklok community has been having this "Summer" contest for the last month and a half, which I thought I might try to submit something to. But I just wasn't coming up with anything. I know I'm not capable of anything like the boys at the beach, so, again, I put it to the peanut gallery. Angus suggested "Nathan's summer cold."

So here it is. Also in the category of "whatever possesses me to think I can draw people..."

Just doodled because I was going to try to replace the battery in my iPod, but Gareth was in the middle of a game so I couldn't look up the directions... and I hadn't done anything for N/C month at [livejournal.com profile] brutalbusiness yet...

Pairing(s)/Character(s): Nathan/Charles
Rating: G
Warning(s): Might keep you awake
Disclaimer: Not mine
Artist Notes: I asked someone what Nathan and Charles should be doing, and that person told me "Drinking coffee and talking about movies." Specifically District 9. Originally I was thinking just the mugs and their hands, gesticulating. Then I remembered I can't draw hands worth shit. And I still haven't seen District 9.

coffee & tea

Actually, I think Charles's preference for tea, if he were in the mood for it at all, would be the whole ritual with a kettle, a Yi Xing teapot and loose tea, something like Lapsang Soochong. But Nathan gets too impatient for all that and just wants the already-made Duncan Hills from the big urn in the corner of the kitchen, so Charles has to rely on method #2 here for his cuppa.

Up way too late because I just agonize too much about hitting that post button.

ETA: I was just reminded, that Nathan does drink tea in ep. #32 The Revengers, (aka Sickklok). He has a cold, and has a rather lovely red and black teapot sitting in front of him during the band meeting, with one of those little bear-shaped honey bottles. I want that teapot.

[livejournal.com profile] runsamuck decided to spend part of our tax refund for a new laptop (a fairly cheap one), and until I get the other one fixed, I was putting some programs I use fairly regularly on it. One was Apophysis which I haven't actually used since version 2.something, and it's now up to 7x. I was noodling around with it - I still need to go through some tutorials I've found - but I was surprised to find this rather spiny blue shark hiding within one of the original diffuse, cloud-like flames. Came up on the first mutation click and I liked the original color so I didn't change it. Also saved it with a transparent background so I can use it in something else, maybe.

Alrighty then. I joined a couple of Metalocalypse fan communities, and finally worked up the courage to actually post something. Never mind that I'm about twice as old as most of the people in them... ;p A post in one of them actually inspired a little Metalocalypse/Pokemon crossover fan art (weird as that may be) of Charles and Nathan, because it made me crack up. I'm just transferring the whole post here, rather than writing up something new. Because I'm brain-dead from trying to write Council briefings, catching up on the dishes, and trying to come with three Halloween costumes on a shoestring. Also damned Meg Whitman (Nut-meg) election commercials making my head explode every time I can't avoid them...

L's pics 096

The first thing Angus asks anyone lately is "Who's your favorite character from (insert show here)?" - his latest obsessiveness. This evening, he insisted I draw Gretchen from Camp Lazlo for him. She came out a bit more grown-up than she is in the series (for the uninitiated, Camp Lazlo is about a bunch of animal kids going to summer camp. Gretchen is a crocodile, or maybe an alligator, it's hard to tell).

Then he did some art of his own... )

I came up blank with ideas for drawings, ran completely out of time because of stuff, plus my printer decided to crap out on me and refuse to print. But still wanted to make my own cards because I consider it my gift to you guys. So I took another route...

...while watching the kids run around...

I've been trying to take the my sketchbook out with me if I'm not reading something. Picked up some cheap gel pens at Big Lots to doodle with, just for fun. Although what I really should be doing is weeding...

Actually the mackerel is not from the front yard, but a meeting that was waaaay over my head...I doodled it on the agenda. And Neil is from the back cover of American Gods. I was amazed flabbergasted that all of these (except for the fish) got favorited within a few minutes of my submitting them at DA. 0__0
