OK this flag flap is getting out of control. Yesterday, I have a senator from West Virginia say:

"I'm not going to stand for these atheists running the country. If they don't like it they can just leave."

Excuse me? Last I heard, one of the tenets for founding this country was religious freedom. I believe that means the freedom to choose not to be religious. Those two words were only stuck in 1954 during the McCarthy era (and I assume if you didn't say them, you were considered a commie).

How would some people like it if the word "atheist" was replaced with "Jew" or "Catholic" or "Baptist?"

What if we replaced those two words with "under Allah" or "under the goddess" or as someone quipped at work "under water?" Yeah, I like that one.

There are a lot more important things for our politicians to be getting hysterical about.

Review of Spiderman in the OC Weekly:

"It probably helps if you can get past that getup, a stretchy number that, when combined with the character’s slinky athleticism, makes Spiderman seem less like a superhero than a Cirque de Soleil acrobat on the cruise. His spider-ass bobs in the air like a buoy in stormy waters, but is that what director Sam Raimi wants us thinking when we watch Toby Maguire flex his superhero moves?"

Hmmm, well, I wanted to see that movie anyway....

Since Dad bought this laptop, I’ve been using it more than my own computer, mainly because I can sit in the living room and use it, while still watching the kids. One disadvantage to this is that all my favorite bookmarks are on the other system and I haven’t been checking them out as much (I suppose I should put them on Yahoo or something but I haven’t gotten around to it). Anyhow, I was saddened to see that a woman named Maetel, who does some wonderful DBZ fanart, is closing her site and selling all of her original artwork. She is giving up because too many people steal her stuff and claim it as their own. I love her art though some of it is very graphic yaoi stuff. She is a professional illustrator and making living with it, so I wish her well. I’m sorry that I won’t be able to go look at it anymore. I may buy a few prints though. We’ll see if the paycheck stretches far enough.

You may not want to click that link if same gender relationships make you uncomfortable (Again, I'm writing as if someone actually reads this).
