Sunset over Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. This is an ecological reserve near my home-it's only a mile or two long and less wide, and surrounded by suburbs. However, two endangered species nest there; the least tern and the Belding's Savannah sparrow. The sky was just crazy with multiple layers of clouds last Sunday - it was supposed to have rained, but all we got were a few sprinkles and some thunder and lightning. While Angus and I were taking these, a professional photographer showed up with a buddy to do the same - he also took a picture of us, handed us his card and offered to send usa copy. Turned he works for the OC Weekly. Geotagged at Flickr.
I'm addicted to sunsets; if this were film I would have used up three rolls....sigh.

The hill in the background is Palos Verdes Penninsula across San Pedro Bay, and the line of lights is Los Angeles Harbor. Bolsa Chica was created as mitigation for the harbor's expansion.
