Early Time Change

Cars on the on-ramp of the 405.
I already get up at "0h-dark-thirty" (as my bus driver put it last week) to get to work by 8 am. With the earlier DLT, I am now getting up for an additional hour of darkness. At the high school a block away from my house, students are rushing to get to their first class twenty minutes before the sun has even come up, and the buildings are all lit up like they would be in the evening anyway. The sun peeked over the flank of Saddleback Mountain after I'd been on the bus for 15 minutes. This is supposed to save the country energy, how?
