To tell the truth, I copied down the mylife_onceaday scavenger hunt list at the beginning of the month, but have suffered travel, stress, Flickr account expiring, lack of computer access (read one computer and 4-5 people wanting to use it) and lack of motivation to keep track of it. Hell with it, let's just say I'm a lazy ass. Given that I did take pics without the list in mind I thought I'd at least go through my April photos and see if any matched up with the prompts.

Angus and I went for a walk downtown; given that I've lived here since being younger than he is, there are a LOT of childhood memories here. The tree above, more horizontal than vertical, is one of several like it I used to climb regularly when my Girl Scout troop had day camp (called Camp Puk-Wudgie) for a week each summer. We'd spend Thursday night in a tent in the park - one time we were kept awake all night by a screech owl in a nearby palm tree.

Ostensibly we were looking for a geocache in the tree, but there were so many people with dogs around we gave up.

My Girl Scout meetings, Brownie through Junior, were in this house. Weird thing, I remember sitting on the retaining wall (it didn't have ivy then), waiting for my mom to pick me up. I remember thinking about what car she would be in; probably ours, but maybe, if my grandma were visiting, she might drive my grandma's car. A few minutes later, she did indeed drive up in my grandmother's car - very odd indeed, because my grandma lived an hour's drive away and didn't visit very often.

Finally somewhat later in childhood, if you consider teenage years part of it...



Somewhat surprised walking by here, and remembering. See the rickety wooden fence next to the curb? It used to continue all the way down to the alley, 30+ years ago.



This is a close up of the tree in the first pic. See the deep holes in the bark that are healing over? I'm responsible for those. I'll refer you here, to figure out what I did there.
