Had to go to a meeting in Boise, Idaho for a few days. It was a little strange because although Idaho is part of the Council my department works with (because of salmon; all the other states involved are coastal), there hasn't been a meeting there for about 20 years. The hotel where the meeting took place was right next to the beautiful Boise River, and I took advantage of some free time before sunset to hunt for a couple of nearby geocaches - my first out of state!

One was right on the riverbank and other geocachers posting at the webpage warned of poison ivy. While it does grow in So. CA, I've never really come across any, so it hasn't been burned into my brain what it looked like. This plant did seem to have the requisite three leaflets - I went by a lot of it including some right over the cache, but don't think I touched any.

The second one, a few blocks away, was in the middle of a paved vacant lot, and its title was a warning - "Goatheads" - named after these pointy seeds that I later pried out of my shoes after I got back to my hotel room. This was a small one - so glad I wore my heavier soled shoes and not my Crocs.
