One of my communities, [livejournal.com profile] mylife_onceaday, is doing a photo scavenger hunt this month. I've already got a few, but I'm putting my list here, just so I can keep track of what I still need to get. Photos of these will be showing up here too.

By the way, this is a great photo community - please join if you think you'd like to participate in a photo-a-day kind of thing (or even not a photo-a-day, or just commenting on what others do). It's a fun one. By the way, [livejournal.com profile] angelsmum and [livejournal.com profile] kittylovedpain, consider yourselves prodded (I know you're also members). ;)

Here it is! Let's see how many everyone can get.Good luck!

1. Chinese Zodiac Symbol ☺
2. Groundhog, or someone/thing named Phil ☺
3. Tiger
4. Your favourite unhealthy snack ☺
5. Writing on a wall ☺
6. Something that helps you start the day ☺
7. An object you always have with you
8. A sign of jealousy ☺
9. Laughter
10. Contents of your friend's wallet ☺
11. Something in decay ☺
12. Jelly beans ☺
13. A kiss ☺
14. Heart ☺
15. Sign of Love ☺
16. Flowers ☺
17. Train ☺
18. Self portrait at work

23. Something that represents where you live ☺
24. Sushi ☺
25. Bare feet ☺
26. Something Red ☺
27. Birthday Candles ☺
28. Something you want to spend your tax return on

There can be more than one thing in a photo, so we'll see about combos...

PICT2014

My alma mater JC, Orange Coast College, had a Community Science Night - in the Physics building the kids got to see metal tops made in the machine shop, watch little robots shove each other, and make parachutes. They also got to see preserved human organs, see a longnosed lancetfish, look at plant parts through a microscope, pet a kingsnake, make stinky chemical reactions and burn a piece of magnesium. They had a lot of fun, and I hope it puts a few ideas in their minds for the future.

Now these are the ones I'm familiar with...just a slightly different format...

Brings back memories of my first roommates Beth and Logan; when Logan would get home from work and stand in the front doorway with a wadded up piece of paper in his hand. He'd aim it a the wastebasket across the living room and holler "Ten bucks worth of video games if I miss!" And he usually did - on purpose, I suspect. Off we'd head to the arcade at the miniature golf course in Fountain Valley. This was when most all of them only cost a quarter, so that was plenty for all three of us for awhile.

...if you live in LA/OC counties.

Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach has started its off-season Shark Lagoon Friday nights again. From now until end of June, the outdoor Shark Lagoon area is open to the public from 6-9 p.m., free of charge. There is usually a live band, food is available, and the gift shop is open. My kids love spending the entire time climbing around on the play equipment, and my elderly dad like the oldies and swing being played.

There's a charge for parking, but if you eat at one of the Rainbow Harbor restaurants, they'll usually validate for a couple of hours, at least.

John happened to be looking at this journal the other day and complained that I had not written anything about our anniversary. To tell the truth, I haven't written much of anything about anything lately, being alternately busy, lazy, tired, or uninspired, so I guess I'll take the time to try and play catch-up. The disclaimer on my user page applies.* ;p

May 20 was our eleventh anniversary. John told me a month or so ahead of time that he and his friend Jerry had already bought tickets to the Medieval Times dinner show for our anniversary and Jerry's wife Dale's birthday; he told me ahead of time but it would be a surprise for Dale. I'd never been there, so I thought that was fine. Read more... )
