Office birds...
May. 26th, 2004 05:52 pmYesterday when I was leaving, I noticed a pair of robins searching around the grass for insects. Maybe they're nesting in the sycamores. This may not sound like much, at least for you guys in the rest of the continental US, but robins in the city in southern California is a pretty rare thing. They do live up in the mountains, but I think in all the years I've lived in my neighborhood (since second grade) I've can count the number of times I've seen robins there on one hand. Granted, this is at my office, which is adjacent to two golf courses and a military airport, so there's a lot more open space.
There is also a female Anna's hummingbird nesting on a branch right over the walkway to the main entrance. I looked up in time to see her return to feed her chicks, which must have hatched just recently; they were still small enough they couldn't be seen over the rim of the next.
I've forgotten my camera the last couple of days, darn it.
