Jan. 28th, 2004 02:25 pmI got a notice in the mail from the county, saying they were aware I own a dog over 4 months of age, and I have 15 days to get him a license. When I flipped it over, there was Stimpy's name and when he's next due for a rabies vaccination.
Stimpy is a cat.
While you can license your cat, it's not mandatory. I called, waited on hold for about ten minutes (are there that many people in Orange County calling about dog licenses?), informed them of their mistake, and they told me to disregard the notice. I was little suprised they didn't insist on some kind of proof (please send us a photograph, a paw print, and a stool sample, please).
I guess vets must have to submit their vacination records or I wouldn't have gotten this notice. He had to have a shot before he had surgery last fall, and any of his previous records are shut up in an animal hospital that has been condemned since someone ran into the front door with a car over a year ago.
