Yet another thing I don't understand...

senoritafishWhen entering a rather small parking lot at a busy Trader Joe's, why is there a continuous line of cars circling around the first section of the lot, even though there are no empty spaces? There are several empty spots just a few yards away. I pulled into the first empty spot I saw, about three spaces in from the driveway. Would it hurt you to walk another 20 yards?
On the other hand, there's my dad, who pulls in a driveway, and then stops dead, looking for a space, never mind the five cars behind him, who just about rear-end him coming in themselves.
