Belated Halloween...
Nov. 6th, 2003 11:01 amTrick-or-treating went well enough Friday night. Before we went, I quickly carved up two pumpkins for the porch, an evil one and a surprised one - I had stopped to get them on the way home at the pumpkin patch we didn't go to the night before, because none of the grocery stores had any. Then we got the costumes on and set out. At almost every house, the boys got "Oh, we do need more firefighters right now!" and several women went to get their sport fishing husbands to show them the little red squid. The boys kept yelling "Trick or treat!" before the door opened, but often had to be prompted to say "Thank you." Avalon would often just keep right on going when a door was opened. We only did both side of our block, and half of either block next to us, because John was still wheezy, I had no voice, and Avalon was getting tired from all the porch steps, and the hood of her costume was aggravating her. Afterward, I went to get KFC (which I had to wait 20 minutes for because all they had was white meat), and I sorted through their candy while they had dinner.
Unfortunately, all the cards for my camera were full so I didn't get to take pictures that night, but I fully intend to get them back in their costumes and take some and post them. My co-workers have been bugging me for them too; they all want to see the squid.
I had to take Gareth for a check-up this morning before work, and when I dropped him off back home, I realized the Jack-o-lanterns are still sitting on the front porch steps and are starting to rot. I need to bury them in the planters before they start grossing out the mailman.
