More proof that AOL is evil....
Aug. 26th, 2003 11:16 amLovely. I was wondering why none of my pictures, background, or even the little pic between "comments/add comments" were showing up all of a sudden. Apparently AOL/CompuServe/Netscape is now blocking remote loading of pictures, apparently because AOL is starting its own journaling feature. Not only that, but it's rumored they are also blocking comment notification emails (I didn't get one for your comment yesterday,
bakayaro_onna). Nice - I still get all the spam for Viagra and organ enlargments, and they block that. Only LiveJournal is blocked for now, but I'm sure other journal sites soon be added. What's interesting is that in CompuServe’s forums (where I found out I wasn't the only one - paranoid me, I thought I had done something), they don't know anything about it,. Nice that they just change their policy, and don't even bother to notify people working for them; even if they're volunteers, that doesn't say much for what they think of their help.
More info here.
I'll file a complaint with CompuServe, but it may be time to start shopping for a new ISP. Probably should have done it long ago, when AOL bought CompuServe, but I just didn't want to change my email address. Anybody have any suggestions? And if someone could leave a comment so I know whether that feature is working or not, I'd appreciate it.
