Dinosaur's Binkit
-written and illustrated by Sandra Boynton
(this is an interactive board book - most of Dinosaur's responses involve lifting a flap or a piece of fuzzy material, the moon is a shiny piece of reflective foil, and the "binkit" is a fuzzy bit of yellow flannel to feel. I found it at Target when Gareth was a baby, and now Avalon has glommed onto it)

Dinosaur, O Dinosaur
Stop tromping all around
The silver moon is rising
It's time to settle down

Dinosaur: (yelling) Where's my Binkit?
Birds in a palm tree: (uncovered by a flap): What's a binkit?

Dinosaur O Dinosaur
It's time to go to bed
You should be getting ready
Did you hear what I said?

Dinosaur (under bed, lift blanket to see him): I want my Binkit!

Dinosaur O Dinosaur
You fuss and fret and moan
It's time to brush your Dino teeth
And put your P.J.s on!

Dinosaur: (opening his mouth very wide): I NEED MY BINKIT!

Dinosaur O Dinosaur
You sigh and snob and sniff
Come out and dry your tired eyes
Here, use this hankercheif...

(child hands him a fuzzy hankercheif)

Dinosaur (coming out of closet where he was hiding...): O! IT"S MY BINKIT!

Dinosoaur O Dinosaur
Dreaming dreams unknown
Your smile makes me
Wish I had
A Binkit of my own.

Dinosaur: (clutching fuzzy yellow Binkit): ZZzzzzzzz.....

Goodnight Dinosaur......

(written enitrely from memory - Forgive me, somehow I managed to misplace an enire bottle of Two Buck Chuck merlot (into my glass) this evening, and I'm a bit silly)
(Sandra Boynton - I love you!)
