Moving Day

senoritafishDrove to Redlands yesterday and helped Beth finish cleaning up her apartment and take some stuff to storage. The condo she was renting decided to have her move out so they could put it on the market. Never mind that the one across from her has been empty for a year, and hasn't sold because it faces the 10 freeway.
We packed up a few last boxes, took them to storage, vacuumed the floor, and put her bed and the love bird in the U-Haul. Then the truck wouldn't start. Grrr. Her brother Todd, who had come up from Riverside on his motorcycle, talked to the U-haul company and arranged for someone to come out the next morning and fix the battery. She called her friend Mary and asked if she could spend the night there.
She was going to throw away a lot of stuff, some of which I wound up bringing home. Some self-watering pots, some garden sculpture shaped like metal bugs, and a couple of half-mannequins - a boy and a girl from the waist down. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I'lI think of something. For now I have them waist down in a pile of mulch, with their feet sticking up - when the kids are misbehaving I can take them out there and say "look, those are our first kids!" (Evil laughter). I have some strange ideas about what to do with the backyard, once I get started with it. I also have an old bicycle and a lawn chair frame I want to use as trellises. It would help if Dad could get the RV out of there. Or maybe I'll just use it as a trellis...
