Do they make keyskins for laptops?
Jan. 25th, 2003 06:34 pmAngus managed to knock over my coffee cup right onto keyboard this morning; I almost think he did it on purpose. It was tall paper cup from Starbucks with a lid on it, so it could have been a lot worse. Most of the spillage seemed to be on the top of the keys and I managed to clean it all up, but some must have gotten under. I left it to dry for awhile, and a few times it didn't want to reboot - getting stuck, and continuously beeping. I left it off the rest of the afternoon. Now it starts, but I have no enter, right arrow, or end key. Please forgive me if I don't write in paragraphs for awhile. I'm thinking if I pry off the keys, and wipe underneath them with a damp alcohol swab, it might take care of the problem. But maybe I'd better leave it for professionals...(ecch, that means money).

Date: 2003-01-26 07:40 pm (UTC)Turn off the laptop and remove all of the batteries (yes, even the bios battery). Once that's done, pry the keys off and wipe all of that area down. Once that's done, take de-ionized distilled water and hose the keys down and wipe the rest of the underkeyboard down. Let it dry for a couple of days, and all will probably be like new.
