senoritafish: (so tired...)

Well, I was going to turn this off and go to bed, but Bob is sure in a playful mood. He found one of my grandmother's old garters (something like an extra large pony-tail holder) and began batting it around the kitchen. When I picked it up and tossed it across the kitchen, he charged after it and fetched it back to me. He has not been in a fetching mood for a long time. It's so funny to see him carrying that circle of elastic around; he just scoops them up with his lower canines. He likes the plastic circle that comes off the milk cartons, too. However, when his back claws slipped and his hind legs skidded out from under him, I thought it was time to call it quits. I think he's about 12 years old and a bit creaky; I don't want him hurting himself.

No one believes me when I tell them my cat fetches. I can never show them because he only does it when he's in the mood.

i believe you.

i've had two cats that played fetch and i had another cat that not only played fetch but hated all men and boys named john.

it was bizarre... but that's not the point... the point is that i believe you :)

Guess I'd better not bring [livejournal.com profile] runsamuck by your house, then!

I've always thought Bob was part dog. He likes to dig, too. Not just for typical cat purposes, but for the pure joy of digging.

I believe you too. My mother's cat, Mittens, would carry a foil ball in her mouth to my mother lying on the bed and mother had to throw the ball out the bedroom door and down the hall. Mittens would scamper after it and bring it back, dropping the ball on my mother's stomach.

When he was younger, I would throw them in the air, and he'd do these amazing flips and twists to catch them. I think he's a bit stiff to do that now.

He also used to chase my brother's Italian greyhound. It was so funny, she would be terrified just to run yelping by him when he was asleep on a chair. Of course, he outweighed her by about 6 lbs.
