senoritafish: (That's Ms. señoritafish to you!)

Good lord. I was just fixing my cheerios and yogurt, waiting for the coffee to finish, when I hear my dad call me. A little alarmed, because on my dock days, I'm usually the only one up at 4:40 am, I went in the living room to see why he was up.

"I think we'd better make sure the patio door is closed."

We often leave it ajar for the cats, and little kids will leave it standing wide open quite often too.

There in his hand, wrapped up in a T-shirt, was a small Didelphis virginiana, glaring at me with its mouth agape.

"That's the second one, too!" he told me. "I caught one in the bathroom at about 2:30 and put it outside. This one woke me up climbing around and knocking stuff off my bookcase."

Apparently Goldie, my grandmother's shy calico, was no help. When she saw the first one, she jumped in the tub and hid.

Ah well, I need to get dressed and head to work. Those boats wait for no woman.

She's really a scary cat. We've had her for a good three years and she's only just recently let me start petting her. If the kids are around, she's gone.

What's funny is they were only a third her size.

BTW, I answered your question. Didja see it?

I wonder if it was the same critter, just different times?

When I was living with my friends, a possum made its way into the garage, and then promptly hid behind the washer and dryer when we checked on the noise.

It wedged itself in real good, because we couldn't shoo it away with a broom or anything.

So finally, I used one of my SuperSoakers on it, which finally did the trick, and the possum ran away. :-D
