Ah, clean kitchen floor feels so nice on bare feet.

Yes, I'm a slob. I tend to let it go in the hope that someone else will recognize how disgusting it's becoming. Unfortunately, nobody ever does. And I mean truly disgusting - it's white, so every smidgen dropped glares LIKE A VAST LAKE OF PUS! (Stop that. Sorry folks, channeling that chef John Cleese played in Monty Python once. All that was coming was "a sore thumb" - how dull.)

Anyhow, the boys wanted to help, so I let them push the mop around for a bit ( they wern't into scrubbing the stuck on bits with the scratch pad) . They got upset with me for wanting to finish before dinner came out of the oven.

So am I bad person for longing for the day when they can start doing chores like this?

its a great thing..you should have them do chores so they'll be comfortable with the idea..I mean they can't live with you forever...they want to belong and feel useful just like adults too..I mean if they don't do chores, they'll get kick out by their roommates or spouses or lovers.

Oh, I fully intend on having them do them - I'm not planning on picking up after them when they are capable of doing it themselves. Just feeling guilty for wishing they could do it now.

My mom had us doing our own laundry as soon as we could reach the knobs on the washing machine. Unfortunately it hasn't made me a very neat person.

lol..neat and clean can be too different things..but you're creative so you're allowed to be less than neat.

My brother is a bit anal-retentive though, and he's far more creative than I am.

Isn't that the whole reason you had kids? So you could pass of chores to them? I know thats what we did. We are purposely waiting until Chirstopher is older to buy a house so he can go right into mowing the yard :) (I'm just kidding, in case you hadn't guessed)
