Where the hell is John?! He left before 4 pm to run some errands. It is now nearly 3 am. He does this at least once a week; actually, he went to visit his dad earlier this week and wound up spending the night. Half the time I wind up staying up way too late staying up for him. Is he trying to get revenge for being the stay at home dad the rest of the time? I know he needs time away from them but this pisses me off. Grrr! Then again he could be trying to phone and I am tying up the line.

I've got to pack for the cruise tomorrow. I'm going out with the La Jolla biologist to collect spawning sardines with the experimental gillnet. We need the data for the populaton assessment. I'm excited to get to go out on a research cruise after so long, but I'm going to miss the kids, and I am worried I can keep up my milk supply being gone so long. I'm afraid Avalon will forget how to nurse. She's starting solid food, but I had hoped to nurse for a year. I have a lot stored in the freezer, for John to bottlefeed but I still worry. I'm taking my pump along, I'll have to use it at every opportunity. It'll be a little weird, since I'll be the only woman on the boat. Still, it'll be good to get out to sea again; I love being out on a boat. Gotta go buy a fishing license. Sardines beware - we're coming to getcha!

stay at home dad too. my only problem, is that i can't get him to leave the house at all (no exaggeration there)!!! when he does leave he doesn't tell me how long he will be gone and he usually takes my car which leaves me stuck in the house with the baby. i really don't think that men were made to take care of kids. they freak out too easily.

I wholeheartedly agree. I get stuck trapped at home all weekend too. We never get any time off, do we Gracie? Some how work is just for fun. Well I'm packing frantically for my "vacation" (even though it's for work). I may be gone for a week, I don't klnow for sure,so I hope he doesn't freak out too much!

i wish you good luck in hopes that he doesn't place too many ship to shore calls to you and luck that you enjoy your "break" even though it is work
