The next person who, after I profess my love of jacaranda trees, complains about what big mess they make, I'm going to tell them they're a gigantic wussy. Try a Moreton Bay Fig, a couple of months out of the year. Especially after it's rained and everyone in the neighborhood has walked their dogs through the squish-edness.

They are little tiny figs, about the size of a blueberry. They actually smell faintly like Fig Newtons, but they're all seeds.

Nevertheless, I still love this tree. We have no air conditioning, and its shade is one of the reasons our house can stay fairly cool in the afternoons of summer/fall.

I'm a wuss! I would be too lazy to clean it up, but they certainly are magnificent trees!

Mmmm, jacaranda trees...

One of my biggest arrrghs is people who complain about what a mess trees make. Hey, people, welcome to nature. Yes, I know you can't control it like the inside of your house... it's all messy and dies occasionally and drops leaves and sticks everywhere. That's why we like it - change is good and wonderful and smells like heaven when it rains. thankyouverymuch.

My thoughts exactly. You might not want to park you car under it at the time, though. ;)

My neighbor is just such a person. He has to come out every morning and hose everything off in case something got tracked onto his driveway and gives us lots of dirty looks when we only use a broom (and not as often as he does).

I had a neighbor that used to threaten to cut the tree in front of her house down about every other day. The two neighbors in back finally got our permission to chop down one of our small pines because it had annoying little cones. *headwall* Thankfully we no longer live there and they can complain and chop to their heart's content.

Figs...

Seems like there's a lot more there then I remember it producing. Is that because it only became mature?
I'm thinking they must not have been fully mature when I lived there.

I think it must have - I don't remember it ever having any all when we were kids, now it does it every year. I know a lot of trees don't fully mature until they reach a certain size. Seems strange to think it took this long.

Ha. You finally put up some icons.
