After frantic last minute stuff, a late start, and horrendous traffic on the Grapevine (the pass north of Los Angeles) we spent last night at a motel in Bakersfield, not wanting to drove up mountain roads in the dark. After a few more hours drive and an extremely twisty mountain road ("Is this a road or a plate of spaghetti?" we asked. "No! It's a diagram of an intestine!"), Angus checks out what will be our campsite for the next few days. The last time I was here was at least 30 years ago, and I remembered the pond, but had totally forgotten all the giant redwood thoughout the campground! See those massive trees behind him? They're a hundred or so feet away.
