...and we recently bought an Epson printer/scanner.

Epson's claims of cheaper ink are empty

It would be ok if one color ran out sooner than the others, which is kind of what we figured on when we bought the thing. However, I noticed when I had to print out 25-30 copies of my garden club's flower show schedule (approx. 12 pages with color pictures), all the color cartridges emptied at almost the same rate, except for two (light magenta and light cyan, I think), which still haven't run out. However, I figured I'd replace all of them at the same time - quite the shock when I went to Staples. It was more than $60 for all six cartridges!!

For both studies mentioned in the article, however, I am dubious when the study was commissioned by a company that wants to hear a certain result.

Right now, I've got a Canon Pixma color printer. I replaced the color cart when it says it ran out, so I'm okay with that. But when the black cart got replaced, the printer driver claimed the color one was completely out, even though it still prints every color just fine.

It's not just Epson.

freakin epson printers
