Got my new glasses on Saturday. My optometrist says it's actually a slightly weaker presecription than last time - maybe I should have Gareth lose my glasses more often. He's such a nice guy - always asks about family, how the fish are doing, in short - remembers who I am from visit to visit, even though they are a year or more apart. I wish my regular doctor was more like that - instead of getting me in and out of their exam room in as short a time as possible. Actually one of my ob/gyns was like that, but since my childbearing years are now over, I have little reason to see her anymore (unless something else happens).

Oh right, glasses. Sorry, I wasn't planning to diatribe about doctor's manners. I was a bit disappointed that larger frames seem to have gone out of style - there were only 2 or 3 pairs, none of which I liked. I picked some semi-rectangular ones with bronzy-green frames. Now that I'm wearing them I notice I that the top and bottom of the frame is within my field of vision. As I sit here typing, and happen to glance down at the keyboard, I am looking under the frames. Something I'll have to get used to.

However, letters on the screen look sharp and black now, instead of grey and a little out of balance. Getting them makes me realize how blurry things were actually getting.

I really, really need new glasses myself. After that whole unfortunate tree mugging experience, mine are unhelpfully bendy.

I should really do that this weekend.

Sigh.

Sounds like you were lucky they weren't permanently embedded in your face!

Glasses are thought to be great toys around here; fun things to grab and yank off your face. It's hard to make them last very long.
