I'm sitting here listening to the Escaflowne movie soundtrack as I do my monthly landings report. I'm realizing that a few of the orchestral/choral pieces in it (Dance of Curse and Black Escaflowne) remind me a lot of Carmina Burana. Not that that's a bad thing.

My kids brought that soundtrack on a trip we took to AZ last week. They brought another interesting anime soundtrack that I can't recall the name of right now. And yet another one that has some nice Celtic overtones. I'm not good with the names...

The Escaflowne soundtrack was done by Yoko Kanno, who is a very talented jazz artist in her own right. There are six or seven CDs just from her soundtrack of Cowboy Bebop, a series that was only 26 episodes, mostly based on jazz and blues. Wolf's Rain, is all latin jazz.

Mmm, Celtic? Trying to think what that series could be. I love Celtic music... :)

I don't know what series it was - it's not a new one, that much I know. I'll ask my #2 son since he's the one that played it for me.

The kids know the artists and discuss their work. I'm in the dark. I go along for the ride. ;-)
