The Blogathon Approacheth...
Aug. 1st, 2005 12:23 pmI am going to be doing the web-log (journaling) marathon again this year on August 6, from 6 am Saturday morning to 6 am Sunday morning (sorry for the late notice, but the website itself was only set up to register last week). I will be making a post every half an hour for 24 hours in my online journal to raise money for charity. I will be blogging for the same charity as I did last year, the Niki Hospice Foundation for Pets ( http://www.pethospice.org/ ), a group that does outreach and referral services for animal hospice care.
Last year, I started with out with what I called "A Field Guide to Fake Trees" and then continued with a tour of my neighborhood. If you'd like, you can see what I did at the following links:
5:00 am – 11:30 pm - http://www.livejournal.com/users/senoritafish/2004/07/24/
12:00 am- 4:30 am - http://www.livejournal.com/users/senoritafish/2004/07/25/
So, be warned, if a post from me every half an hour is going to clog up your friends page, you may want to filter me out for that day.
I don't think I have enough new fake tree pictures to continue that theme (unless you have some pics you want to send me!), but I'm sure whatever shows up will be fun, although when it gets to be 3 or 4 am, I can't promise to be coherent. Other bloggers promise to be doing even more interesting stuff (check out the Hot Spots link at www.blogathon.org )
If you'd like to sponsor me, please go to www.blogathon.org ; click the "How to Sponsor" link and follow the instructions. Then click the "View Campaigns" link, and find me – it's listed alphabetically by Campaign Title. My journal's title is "Visit the Kelpforest" so I will probably be on the last page. Click the title and you will be asked how much you want to pledge. Of course, if another person or charity you would like to support catches your eye, you can sponsor them instead – or as well. ^__^ There are a lot of great charities being supported, such as Heifer, International, Doctors Without Borders, and many other deserving groups.
After the Blogathon is over, you will be sent an email reminder of your pledge and who to send it to. You can mail your pledge directly to them, and your money will never touch anyone else's grubby fingers, including mine. All donations go directly to the charities.
For people who sponsored me last year: Just to let you know, the Niki Hospice Foundation for Pets has their new website up ( http://www.pethospice.org/ ). If you sponsored me in Project Blog last year, your name may be listed on their "Friends" donation page:
http://www.pethospice.org/BENEFACTORS-SUPPORTERS-FRIENDS.htm
If you are not cool with your name being listed, I'm sure they would take it down if you email them – Dr. Marocchino seems to be a very nice person.
Thanks and love,
Leeanne
