I came in this morning thinking today was Thursday, and asked KP when I needed to come in for docks tomorrow. She started telling me some of the boats were getting in really late, and then gave me a puzzled look, whereupon VT interjected, "Today's Wednesday, Leeanne."

Which is good, I suppose, because I have one more day than I thought to finish something, and sucky because I thought tomorrow was payday. TN told us at lunch he had been thinking today was Tuesday. Add us together and we'd have been in sync.

I had made an appointment yesterday for John to see his doctor; unfortunately, they told the first available appointment was July 12. He was triple-booked for the rest of the week and off next week, although he could have come in yesterday and waited in case there was an opening. I was grumbling that why didn't his doctor have some kind of urgent care facility like my medical group does; he said they did, but he couldn't remember where it was. I called the office back this morning and was told, "Oh sure, it's at such and such a place from 6 to 9 pm, just show up at 6." It would have been nice if they'd told me this yesterday - I said he was in a lot of pain. It would help his comfort and my sanity even if it's only for a prescription for painkillers until his regular doctor appointment.

I really hope he doesn't need surgery. He's been having rotator cuff problems for awhile now.

I have to say that the US health care system needs some work. I called our family practice yesterday to get annual check up appointments for me and my other half, and the first time we could get in was August 10th!

The office should have said they had an urgent care facility -- especially if you'd already told them he was in pain. That must have been very annoying!

He has a very popular doctor and it's often hard to get in to see him on short notice. They could've mentioned it though.

Oooh, don't get me started on the health care system and insurance companies in this country. I could rant for hours...

I hope John will be on the road to recovery soon!

Have you found adult males (in general) are worse than children when they are in pain? rat is not so bad but he always looks so pathetic, like a beaten puppy, when he is ill, which is rare.

I was watching Jeff Foxworthy and he said it best. "Most males revert to two years old when they get sick and want you to be their mommies." Ha! I love a man who admits it. Except that John wouldn't want his mom, as he doesn't get along with her. Also, being Irish, John has to announce how crappy he feels about every 10 seconds. "Sweetie, I feel like shit." And the waitressing. Usually being sick or injured, as in this case, does very little to check his appetite. Yep, he is on about the same level as Avalon, when he's sick, but I suppose I should be grateful he at least can blow his own nose.

There's a reason I didn't major in nursing. I should be more patient. If he does wind up needing surgery, I'm SOL.

rotator cuff = Comples of tendons in your shoulder (http://www.medicalmultimediagroup.com/pated/shoulder_problems/cufftearold.html)

That's it; I was on antipodean time!

Which I was tickled to see is from Middle English, meaning "people with feet opposite ours" - tickle, tickle....

*squirms and giggles*

That has to be one of the coolest word derivations I've seen. =)

Well, he's got some anti-inflammatories now, so we'll see if they help. I hope so.
