I dragged myself out of bed this morning, knowing the boys were going to get into something if I didn't, and went out to the kitchen to find Angus busily trying to hide a pair of scissors before I got there. He had climbed up and got them off the third shelf in the cupboard and was trying to cut his brother's hair. He had already done his own; he now has a big bald spot above the middle of his forehead, so he's either going to have to get a buzz or wear a hat for a while. Grrr! I keep moving them higher and he still gets them. I'm going to have to lock them up, I guess.
This afternoon, John's mom took the kids for a while, so we could do something by ourselves. We tried this last week but since it was the end of the month, we had no money to do anything, so we went for a walk then came home and enjoyed the quiet until we had to go pick them up. This time was not much different money-wise. We decided we couldn't afford a movie (damn, I'm upset the Super Saver theater closed; it was only $2.50 - so what if the movies were old!), so we went bowling (one game, plus shoes), then we got a couple of hard lemonades, put them in cups and went to Seal Beach to walk out on the pier, and poked around in some of the shops on Main Street. The only unpleasant thing was the restroom under the pier; after a summer weekend day it was pretty disgusting. Then we stopped in a kite shop and John spent our last couple of bucks on a foam airplane that does loops, one of those little propellers on a stick that you twist between your hands to make it take off, and some snaps, which seem to be a bit of tissue paper wrapper amound some cat litter with a bit of gunpowder in them. You toss them on the gound and they bang like a cap. I had seen some neighborhood kids with on the 4th and I had been curious about them.
We went and picked up the kids a bit early; I have to do docks in the morning so I should get to bed early (ha!).
