(I thought I had posted this last week, but on second glance, it's not there.)

Also from our Marine Region calendar (September):

Science, like love, can be blind, inspired, glorious or brutal. The piercing ability to perceive order within apparent chaos is, to me, the greatest, elegant power of science. Not to impose order, but to perceive it.
-Carl Safina

I am going to have to look up this guy's book. He seems to have the knack that Carl Sagan and Stephen Jay Gould had, to make the description of science almost poetic. And to think I used to be on an elsmobranch mailing list with him!

I was at from 6am to 5:30 pm finishing those database reports for the people in La Jolla to run their biomass assessments. And today D. tells me they only pull a couple of figures off each one to put in their sardine models. Snort! - I feel like I've been giving myself a concussion beating my on my desk for nothing.

I need to get an action figure of Bob the Builder's cat for my desk. It tickles me that his name is Pilchard. I work with sardines, Pilchard is British for sardine. Pilchard = Sardine. Get it? Oh, never mind.
