One of the sponsors is the HB Wahine Surf School, which has surfing camps for women and girls (kind of pricey though) - something I'd love to try before I get too old and fat. I live in Surf City USA, and I've never actually surfed. Boogie boarding yes, but almost anyone can do that.
Actually, my major obstacle to learning to surf is you seem to need to be a morning person. Which I most definitely am not.
