Busy weekend, Part the third - Sunday...
Jul. 9th, 2005 07:59 pmSunday, John's dad invited all of us, including John's mom and Grandma, over to his house in Carson to swim in his pool. This is was a really unusual occurence - the first time this has occurred in the ten years we've been married. John's dad has suffered from severe social anxiety since returning from Vietnam, but is apparently now on some new medication and and therapy at the VA hospital. I think this finally happened after John had it out with him that he was tired of only seeing him when he had some work project he needed help on, and he'd never seen his grandaughter and she was nearly four years old. John's mom had been working on him too I guess. I wasn't entirely comfortable going over there - his house is a bit scary - but we did have a pleasant time swimming, and there were three kittens and a Rottweiler/German shepard puppy for the kids to get to know. It's been a long time since I've done any swimming like that, and on top of all the walking, I'm a bit sore.
The kids haven't had swimming lessons yet, but we had fun towing them around in inflatable rings. They splashed around in the shallow end while John and I dove for little missle-shaped pool toys, which would race through the water when you tossed them in, sometimes even jumping out before settling to the bottom.
The kittens must have been tired - they spent most of the afternoon asleep on a LazyBoy. They're about five weeks old.
( you know you can't resist... )
