senoritafish: (easily distracted silliness)
Doug came down last Monday bearing gifts, among which were books for the kids; The Boy Who Cried Fabulous and Walter, the Farting Dog. The first he insists is about a little gay boy (actually he just has a rather florid vocabulary - let's wait and see about the other) and the second is self-explanatory. Both perfectly delightful books.

So, John's bad parent moment of the day is, while reading the second book to the kids, in which Walter drives off a pair of burglars with a tremendous blast of flatulence, and the Father shouts " He saved the VCR!" John inserts, "And it still has my porn tape in it!"

Did I mention we are going straight to hell?

How nice - I came in this morning to find a Krispy Kreme donut waiting for me on my desk; I remember on Friday AL saying she had coupons and was going to bring some in. I work with such nice people.

I am sad and worried this morning. I know I've been talking about my cat a lot lately, so I'll put this behind a cut in case you'd rather skip it )

Well, since John keeps telling me to stop worrying, and I can't do anything about it in the meantime, I will try to think of something happier. I am making some progress on converting my monthly landings update report from dBASE to Access, thank to the hints from a kind person at UtterAccess.com. As I thought, I was going about it all wrong, and it was better to just start over. Damn that normalization, anyway. It doesn't help that the databases we get from outside sources are pretty much flat files, so I'm going to have to automate putting them back together properly. Ah well, it's good exercise, and I will know more about Access programming when I'm done.

Then there's that age-length frequency summary program. God, what a monster. I'm sure that one's beyond us and needs a professional. At least if we want before the end of this century...
