Nov. 24th, 2002 12:02 amI'm going to get a rare bowl of ice-cream before someone else finishes it. John has fallen asleep with the History channel on - first the story of the guillotine and then something about Hitler's POW camps. I realize that its something we should never forget, but I grew up with a WW II veteran and am married to a history buff, so it's unlikely.
I was visiting the Library of Congress website and discovered something called the Veterans History Project, giving guidelines for capturing the stories of Veterans of any war, but exspecially the remaining WW I & II, since their numbers are dwindling every day. I'd like to do this with my dad. I've already studied the sample questions and need to set aside some time to do it , when we're not sniping at each other about who is supposed to be whose maidservice, and there aren't children screaming in the background. They are also interested in stories of civilians; maybe I should talk to my aunt.
Hmmm. Our veteran in residence has swiped all the strawberry ice cream out of the carton of Neopolitan. Call out the tanks.
