Ok, I had three books equidistant from me..

You have a choice of:

“Prohibition on take of rockfish in State waters applies.”

“The song, generally more complex than any of the calls, is given to advertise ownership of a nesting or feeding territory, and in most species is sung only by males.”

Or

“Me? I was being reverent. I was giving thanks that I was born human and not Martian.”

(Yes, I know the last is three sentences. I’m choosing to include everything between the quotes for a little context.)

The third one looks like a sentence punctuated with periods. :)
