Mar. 12th, 2004 12:41 amAngus has good taste - Alton Brown has grown on me. Good Eats is a funny, quirky blend of cooking and science and I love it. I added the syndicated feed to his blog awhile ago, but it doesn't seem to be working, so I checked it out directly. I was shocked to find he'd been hospitalized for heart arrythmia, but is ok now. Whew! I wouldn't have wanted to break any bad news to Angus.
I also found this gem, which gave me a good chortle:
Heh. Gimmee a man who can cook any day.
(And he is kind of cute. In a nerdy, balding sort of way. Hell, when have I ever based attraction on looks?)
I also found this gem, which gave me a good chortle:
Although I do not visit any of the Good Eats fan sites for fear of somehow crossing a line that shouldn’t be crossed, I do have a couple of friends who troll the ether simply so that they can torture me with little odds and ends that are written by fans regarding a certain quasi-celebrity food-guy of my general size and build who answers to a name oddly like my own. One particularly mischievous friend recently dug up a particularly unsettling tidbit, written in regards to my place in the hierarchy of American males. All I have to say is this:
Orlando Bloom? Are you kidding? I could take that sissy pretty boy any day. Heck he can’t even act unless he’s packin’ a sword or a bow or wearing some ridiculous blonde wig. And I guarantee you he can’t cook an egg much less go on for hours about the physics of the thing.
Okay, so he’s a movie star (sort of) and probably makes a decent living but I’m willing to bet the reason those eyes are so “dreamy” (not my words) is simply because there’s a big empty space behind them.
And I assure you, I look better in tights.
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go do something manly …like bake brownies.
