Yesterday was Avalon's birthday. I had to do docks yesterday and take Angus to have his TB test checked when I got back. I wanted to crash on the couch for a bit afterwards, but Gareth decided I was a trampoline and John shoved a caffeinated beverage at me, and said "Don't go to sleep now, you won't be able to tonight and you'll wind up staying up too late again."
So I groggily got up, and I mixed up a cake to put in the oven before we went for a walk. It was a bit difficult, because all three of them wanted to see me mixing it up, and they all got either a spoon or a whisk to lick off before we went outside. When we came in and I took it out to cool, Gareth kept trying to pick at the top of it - I had to get after him twice.
Angus and Gareth refused to eat dinner again, and I had said well, no cake then, but John decided they could since it was a special occasion. We're going to wait until Saturday when Grandma can come over for presents and such (she's also going to bring Lacey, her new Maltese puppy to visit), but we did put two candles on Avalon's cake and sang Happy Birthday to her. John had to help her blow her candles out - she wasn't quite aiming the right direction. She gave up on the fork finally and ate with her hands,
I can't believe it's been two years since that last 1 AM rush to the hospital, when she arrived barely an hour later. The nurses were worried they wouldn't even have time to get me checked in. It's been slightly longer since I got to know some of you on the ChickClick boards when we were all complaining about the aches and pains of being pregnant -
vwsrmylife, you started it all. I'm glad I followed everyone here.

I hope you got some sleep later!

Date: 2003-08-24 09:27 pm (UTC)No kidding - the weeks are going by so quickly. Every time I turn around it's Friday again. My Father tells me it only gets worse as you get older - he can't believe his little girl has gray hair!
And sleep, of course, but after Cowboy Bebop! (hee, hee)
