senoritafishOw. I've had this gnarly vein on my leg for about 20 years. My mother had pretty bad varicose veins and I've inherited them. Pretty much why I don't wear skirts (not to mention I've never been comfortable in them), and rarely shorts. They're not pretty, but they've never really bothered me before Sunday morning. When I got out of bed, it hurt enough to make me limp badly. I put my feet up for awhile, and it felt a bit better. When I hear people complaining about their veins hurting, it's usually after a lot of walking or standing, not the minute you get out of bed!
John got me an ACE bandage, which supports it and keeps it from hurting too much when I walk, but it's not really going away. Today, it was swollen and red above the knee, and I phoned my health insurance's Nurse-line, who recommended I keep my feet above my heart (kind of hard to do at work), and try to get in to see the doctor today. Unfortunately, all the urgent care appointments were full up, so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow morning.
Goddammit. I'd better not have to wear support hose. I hate hate HATE stockings.
I have too many health posts lately.
On a more cheerful note, all my on-sale Cowboy Bebop dvds arrived yesterday - I have the whole series now! I kind of miss the old dvd covers that had synopses for each character, though. And no liner notes. :( So which one did I wind up watching? One of the ones I already had - Angus wanted to see Toys in the Attic. Heh.
