
Yay, I got a picture of that bird I mentioned a few entries ago! Not all that great, because my camera isn't capable of zooming much, but enough to compare it with my field guide. This guy has been hanging out around my office building. I believe it's a Say's phoebe (Sayornis saya), which is supposed to winter in this area. I could tell it was a phoebe, because it has the same shape and low crest as the black phoebes I see quite often (and never hold still long enough for me to get a picture of). However, it's gray with pale rusty belly and under tail coverts, instead of black and white.

And a magnolia blooming outside the door...a cup magnolia, I think?
