Back at work...
Mar. 14th, 2006 05:26 pmIt's very anticlimactic to be miserable enough to go to the doctor, and then be told "It's postnasal drip." Makes me feel like I've been a complete hypochondriac, running to the doctor for a stupid cold. The nurse practitioner gave me a prescription for cough syrup, and told me to pick up some over-the-counter Claritin D, and that my throat pain and stuffy ears would clear up as soon as my nose did. Well, all three of the kids had ear infections, so I just wanted be sure I didn't as well.
So, I'm finally back at work after being out since last Thursday, still wincing when I swallow and not hearing things properly. I found a nice laminated rockfish poster and a smaller double-sided one sitting on my desk when I came in this morning, the same as the one they had at the Fred Hall Show. I'm not sure where I'm going to put them; everyone got one and I don't have any poster sized spaced in my cube to hang it up. VT already hung hers on the exterior cubicle wall, and since she sits directly across from me I don't need to do the same. Maybe I'll take it home.
ML, IT and PH put on a slide show at lunchtime. They had all gone down to Chile for an abalone conference; and since they had to pay out of their own pockets to go, they made a vacation out of it. After the conference, all of them went on a cruise along all the islands and glaciers all the way down to Cape Horn, and then back to Buenos Aires, and from there, PT and his wife went to Easter Island, and ML and IT went to Manchu Bacchus. IT motored through over 300 slides in the space of an hour (about 5 seconds a slide) of glaciers, river rafting and Inca ruins, while PH showed us the moai and other scenery of Rapa Nui. So now everyone has an itch to travel, although in my case, it won't be scratched for quite a while, other than possibly local camping trips. But that's ok. There are plenty of interesting places fairly close to home, for now.
So, why is it a tablet labeled as being effective for twelve hours stops working after about seven?
