The rain that moved in last night is taking a break right now. There were warnings over the weekend that heavy rain could cause flash floods and mudslides, especially in areas where fires had occurred previously. Gareth heard a few of them on the news and was worried - I had to reassure him that neither we nor any of his friends live in an area where any of those could occur. Not only are we in the middle of a suburb, but we're sort on the top of a mesa and not anywhere near the hills. A tsunami, an earthquake, those might cause a bit of worry, but, as I explained to him, they give warnings so people can be prepared.
Darn my dad, letting him watch those disaster movies. He's not so much scared when watching them, but he gets to pondering on them later.
Yesterday I wasn't thinking when dressing for work and put on sandals; it had started by the time I left work, and the bus driver laughed at my footwear when I got on the bus - luckily, he came just as I arrived at the stop so I wasn't standing it for too long, and there is a shelter at the next stop. Ah well, feet are easier to dry than sneakers, but I'm wearing them today.
There must be a spot of sun out, because I see shadows on the tree trunks outside the window. This morning I pulled my camera out and took some photos of flowers with rain on them from the vines hanging over the fences of people's backyards. Some of the prettiest are behind a house where a dog kept barking at me, so I tried not to take too long. With all the traffic going by on that street, I'm always a little self conscious doing this, anyway.
