senoritafish: (perfect TV mom)

What an absolutely gorgeous day today. After Tuesday night/Wednesday morning's downpours (shortly after midnight the wind and rain started so fiercely I finally had to close my window, because it sounded like a waterfall), and what I can only think is light holiday traffic, the air today was clear and breezy, not a speck of smog, with a sheep herd of closely spaced puffy clouds huddling close to the mountains. I finally got off my ass (I've been on vacation this week) to take in my "New Year's" cards to work, plus some small treats for DP, KP, and VT (VT won't get them until she gets back from Europe with her husband - with the raw materials for another $500 dollar scrapbook - but I still wanted to leave it on her desk). Just some gel pens and weird pencils and candy stuck in a Mug Boss. I brought the kids along so the people who were actually in made a big deal over them.

On the way back from the office, we drove back via PCH, admiring the clouds and the sun on the ocean. I told the kids it would be to walk along the bluffs for a little while, to which they excitedly agreed, so I pulled over in the parking lot at the top of the bluffs. I only had 30 cents which came to 20 minutes of parking, so we walked along the bike path to where it dipped down near the beach, looking at all the different kinds of dogs brought there by their owners (this part of the beach is the dog beach, the only place dogs are allowed to run on the sand), then circled back to the car, dodging to the side of the path when bike came by. Then we stopped and looked down at the water, and watched a remote controlled delta-wing glider, as its owner sent it dipping, swooping and making loops, back and forth along top of the bluffs.

Then the parking meter ran out and it was time to buckle everyone back into the car.

I tell you, I will be glad to finally get the Trooper back (a subject for another post). My dad's car is just cramped with three kids in the back. Plus it's so low to the ground I feel like an old lady hauling myself out of it.
