I have to laugh at M., one of our sci aides. Her mother owns a horse farm up in the Sacramento area. It's foaling season, so she's all excited to tell us about all the new arrivals (you can see some them here, they're very endearing - who can resist a newborn foal?). She can also inform us on the intimate details of how to inseminate a mare, and how you get what you inseminate the mare with. We were joking that the stallions don't get to have any fun anymore and she informed us that "oh yes, they do." The point is that they are too valuable to risk a mare injuring them.

A little later, someone was jawing about George Foreman, and how his kids are also all named George. "How would you call them?" somebody wondered. "Numbers, probably," someone else suggested, and then D. said, "Boy, I'd hate to be number two." Most everyone greeted this with a chuckle.

Except for M. "Now, D., that's what I meant by your sense of humor," she said somewhat disapprovingly- obviously refering to an earlier conversation. I decided to tease her a little bit.

"Now M., how can you call yourself a proper biologist without an appreciation for a little potty humor?"

She pulled herself up very straight, and said, "Because I'm a lady."

Ah well, the rest of us are just women.
