Current book
Jul. 8th, 2003 12:10 amI'm trying to finish Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It was our book this month, but I didn't quite get it finished by Wednesday. Not the first cyberpunk novel I've read, but any book whose main character is named Hiro Protagonist has got to be worth a read. We had a new guy at the meeting - he seemed fairly normal, has some sort of science background, and does not appear to still live with his parents (Ha! I'm a fine one to talk!). Hope we don't scare him off. Jeffrey brought a Right Stuf catalog - I leafed though it because there was a big Gravitation picture on the front and one inside, but damned if I could find it listed anywhere. I was just wondering how much it was.
Anyway, going to immerse myself in the land of burbclaves and professional hackers, where if you have a big motorcycle and manage to liberate a nuclear weapon, you can become your own sovereign nation. The concept of religion being spread by viruses (computer or biological) is an interesting one.
