Bow of a purse seine skiff, itself sitting on the back of a purse seiner. This is the small boat that pulls the net around a school of fish.

There's not much fishing going on right now because sardine is closed and there is not a lot available for purse seiners to target - wrong season for squid and mackerel is too far offshore. So many boats are hauling a lot of their gear off the boat and doing maintenance, repairing nets, etc.

I love the depth of color and texture on the seiner net.

Generally they're all covered up with tarps so the net doesn't degrade in the sun, so it's nice to see them all uncovered.

Ya know, as much as I love nature, I find I'm increasing drawn to taking pictures of old rusty urban things.
