I am such a kid when it comes to flying - I love looking out the widow and trying to figure out where I am.
I think this must be the Tehipite Fire in King's Canyon NP. The only other fire in the area started a couple of days later. This one started in July but because it's in such an inaccessible area, they are just letting it burn through fuel that's just been piling up for a 100 years. This is really part of the natural cycle of the area.
