Laurel Burch rip-off...

a_hollow_year on my friends page posted of pic of how her hair looked with these gorgeous hairsticks a friend had made; while I don't have any gorgeous hairsticks (or her gorgeous red hairs, only a random few are red) at the moment, I was inspired to do something similar. I've worn this barette almost every day for probably a good ten years, as it's the only one I've ever had that didn't fall apart after wearing it more than a couple of times. Took me about six tries to get the exposure and the aim right - and I didn't realize my gray has made it all the way to my bun (I usually just wear a pony tail, but I twist it up like this when I get hot).

Pencils work good for hair sticks. Honestly, I've used whatever long, thin and semi-pointed thing I can find to put my hair up when it's hot.

And honey, that's a sprinkling of white compared to me. I'm letting mine grow out and the white has multiplied to the point it is completely filled in some areas of my scalp.

I often use pencils, and sometimes chopsticks; I have been known to nearly put someone's eye out by turning my head too fast (sometimes my own) because some of them are a little bit too long.

As for the gray - as it says on my profile, I prefer to think of them as racing stripes, as it seems to be coming in mostly at the temples and right at my widow's peak...
