Ok, I happened to be watching Ed, Edd & Eddy with Angus on the CN website; the "Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Ed" episode in particular. Eddy manages to convince Ed (never the brightest bulb) that Double D is actually an alien ("C'mon, didja ever know any normal person who was that smart?"). After Ed gives him funny looks in the garage, Double D flees into his bathroom, thinking there's something wrong with his breath. After Eddy eggs Ed on a bit further, they corner Double D in the bathroom, where he's paranoidly brushing his teeth. When he tries to talk to Ed (while foaming at the mouth), Ed panics and runs out of the bathroom, slamming the door.

An aside here: while we never see any of the kid's parents in this show, Double D's parents at least leave evidence that they exist by leaving sticky notes all over the house for him, although they never seem to be at home themselves (this has led many a fan to speculate that he's so neurotic because his parents neglect him). There are quite a few little yellow squares in evidence all over Double D's bathroom in this scene. When Ed runs out, there's a view of the back of the door and the wall where a few of the stickies are visible. It's only visible for maybe a quarter of a second; I wasn't sure I'd really seen it until I managed to hit the pause button in the right place. I tried to grab a screenshot, but CN is being a stick-in-mud and won't let them be saved, so I finally grabbed my camera, and this was the best shot I could get.

Let's see, there's "Flush," "Lock Door," "Walk, Don't Run," and...

"Don't Touch Yourself"

One of the artists who works on the series actually has that as her avatar at DA, but I thought she had just made it up. XD

me and cartoon network are not the biggest buddies. i think most of their content is for adults. i mean, if i had the time to watch this stuff on my own, i would be ecstatic.... but Milo is always here with me. you should see how many times i get caught watching you tube or myspace videos. how did i explain watching Jerry Springer clips? yeah. i couldnt.

that mess on the wall is hilarious though.

Well, it definitely is in the evenings when the adult swim segment is on. By East Coast time it starts at 11:00, but since we have satellite, we get the East Coast feed, which means it starts at 8:00. Usually that's when they're doing their homework, though, so not usually a problem. Depends on the show though - I don't mind them watching Futurama so much, but not Family Guy.

This show, though, is one meant for kids, but like a lot of them, puts in a few jokes and references that only grown-ups are going to get - because they know parents are watching as well. Although, yes, I did have a hard time explaining to Angus just what I was laughing about.

So, the creepy is what was on the sticky note, or the parenting by sticky note? It's the latter for me.

There's an entire episode where Eddy and Ed discover the sticky notes for the first time (most of them are chores and reminders), and Eddy, of course, has to deviously change them all to things that make no sense - "Please wash the phone - Father" and "Please insert broom lint into your bellybutton - Love, Mother." Poor Edd is so literal he runs around doing them all while anguished and confused as to why his folks are making him do such senseless things.

Makes you wonder why he stays friends with them, Eddy at least.

the parenting by sticky note. when you really get to looking at it, that does happen. both parents working, yet still wanting to offer some guidance when they can.
it happens. this week, i am on vacation yet i have three kids at my house except for one. i am watching my neice and nephew because their parents would have no choice but to leave them at home this week. they are 5 and 9. it shouldn't be this hard to care for your kids! since i am a single parent and would have had this week off anyway to care for Milo because of no real or reliable backup system, i decided to offer my services. i am glad i did. 9 hours at home alone.
this is what the no child left behind program should have been used to support. care for children of working parents.

i need satellite :)

You're exactly right. That's the whole reason John decided to be a SAHD. All of his paycheck was going to daycare of one(!) child. We probably wouldn't have been able to do that if we we're living with my father.

Edd is supposed to be about 13, so I suppose old enough to be home by himself, but from the amount and content of notes (they show up in several episodes), it's obvious they've been in use for quite a while.
