I see why they have you not eat breakfast for an upper GI x ray now. That stuff they make you drink would make you retch if there were anything else in your stomach. Especially the fizzy stuff, which they had me swallow like a shot to distend my stomach a bit ("now try not to burp"); it made my eyes water. On top of the thick stuff ("now take a drink and hold in your mouth until I tell you to swallow"), and then the thinner stuff ("now keep sipping like it's a milkshake") and the maneuvering - I had to roll 360°, from prone to supine and back to prone again, to coat my stomach so they could see it better, I guess.

The doctor said he didn't see anything abnormal on first glance, but will be looking at them closer and sending the results to the doctor next week. People keep mentioning heartburn and acid reflux, but this feels different from heartburn. It's more like pressure. The swollen feeling comes and goes; at least it's not quite as bad as it was last week now.

It was kind of neat to see my insides right there on the screen though.
