(Curse of the "Can't Contact Server Error" - was supposed to have posted about 11:45 pm last night)

Sitting here trying to type in the dark. My arm aches/itches - had a physical yesterday and got a tetanus shot, as well as some exercises for my shoulder that’s been bothering (but does seem to be getting better), a lab sheet for a blood test (but I have to fast first), and an appointment for a mammogram. Yes, I'm just about that age. Every year from now on - what fun.

After getting home yesterday, John took off to his friend Jerry's - he was supposed to help move some furniture in return for Jerry helping him with the gate on Saturday. I was hoping he wasn't going to be gone very long - I was pretty tired from not sleeping well the night before and then getting up at 4:30 am. I had given Avalon a snack of Cheerios and bananas, and set her back on the floor to crawl around. She started getting very upset and I picked her up to try and comfort her. I realized she felt sticky and at first I thought "did she get that much banana all over her?" - then I noticed her hair was soaking wet! I went to get the ear thermometer to take her temp, but had to hold her and rock her in my lap to calm her down first. She finally dozed off and to tell the truth so did I. About 15 minutes later we both woke up and she was completely fine. Normal temp and everything - very strange. Some kind of 5-minute fever?

Of course, while we were out, the boys took the opportunity to get into the kitchen cupboard. Although I keep hiding them where I think he can't reach them, Angus found the big kitchen scissors and cut more of his hair off (sporting a nice big bald spot just above the center of his forehead) and also used them to cut the plug off the floor lamp - not plugged in, thank god. So that's why I'm sitting here in the dark.

Did I say that John had to install a 7-foot gate to keep Angus from running out unsupervised into the alley? He will dump out a wastebasket, climb on top of it and unlatch the latch we had put on the outside of the gate, specifically so he couldn't reach it!

I suppose I should be proud of him for figuring out all this stuff - but his curiosity and cleverness are outstripping his not-so-well-developed sense of self-preservation and my patience!
