Friday, I think I discovered a bug in Access. Since I’m new and stupid at it, I was trying to rename fields in the Database view, and since I wasn’t sure what a certain field I was importing contained, I kept trying to name it with a question mark. Every time I tried do this, the entire database crashed, and Access would come up with a
message that “Access has to close now, please send error data to Microsoft.” The database would close and reopen but if you tried to reopen that particular database it would crash again, and I would have to recreate the entire thing. Some computer guys were in the office upgrading machines and one of them was bored and tried to help me, but unfortunately, he didn’t know Access that well either. After they left I finally figured out what was going on – the question mark was causing it every time. Normally, you would get a message saying “This is a restricted character” (which you DID get if you tried to enter it in Design View). And, if had I known the program better, I would have known not to use a question mark.

Damn, Microsoft owes me now. Where’s my check?
