Cool! I just saw a downy woodpecker (according to Val's bird book - I'd taken mine home) outside my office window; probably a female as it lacked a red head patch, but did have the black and white stripy wings and white eye-stripe. I grabbed my camera since she was on the branch closest to my window, but alas, I forgot my battery died when Angus and I walked down to the pier Saturday night and I forgot to recharge it. Dammit, would've been perfect.
